Dear Mr. Selin:
I am a concerned citizen compelled to write and hopefully urge you to pLEASE advise the NRC licensing board to deny LES' application to construct a uranium enrichment facility in Homer, Louisiana.
perhaps you are already aware of the fact that the local communities of Forest Grove and Center Springs are adamantly opposed to having the LES plant located in their backyard!!
Have you considered the negative social and environmental impacts that the plant will have on the area? Please take a close look at the issue of environmental racism and the role that it might have played in deciding to site the plant so near to the two small black communities. Many studies done have indicated that an overwhelmingly disproportionate number of toxic waste sites, incinerators, and hazardous chemical and industrial operations are sited in poor, minority communities.
