Dear Mr. Selin:
I strongly urge you to advise the Nuclear Pegulatory Conmission(NPC) licensing board to deny Louisiana Energy Servi-cer' (LES) application to construct a uranium enrichment facility in Homer, Louisiana.
There are a number of reasons for this recuest. Cne is the local opposition from the communities of Forest Grove and Center Springs - they do not want radioactive uranium-238 waste in their backyard.
They have a right to have i
a safe and environnentally sound home for their children and l
grandonildren.
Also I can not help but question you about the l
issue of e n v i r o n n,e n t a l racism and the role it may have played in i
deciding to site the plant so near to these two small black l
communities.
There sppears to be a nationwide pattern of siting narardous wastes dumps and dangerous industrial operations in l
economically and politically disadvantaged connunities.
This is a horrible thought to consider, but the facts are there nore and more.
Please do what is in your power to rectify this situation.
