20555 Dear Mr. Selln; I urge you to advise the NRC licensing board to deny Loui siana Energy Service's application to construct a uranium enrichment l
f acili ty in Homer, Loui siana.
The communities of Forest Grove and Center Springs are adamantly opposed to the construction due to the negative social and environmental impact s it will have on the area.
I also encourage you to look into the suspicious ring of i
environmental racism that LES's application has.
Once again society f eel s i t can dump on the black communi t ies in thi s count ry.
Already an overwhelmingly disproportionate number of toxic waste sites, incinerators, landfills and hazardous industrial operations are located in poor, minority communities.
Other strong issues is consider is the f act that this f acility would discharge polluted water into the Lake Claiborne Watershed and that when Uranium hexaflouride mixes with air it creates a toxic hydrogen fluoride. Not only is this project jeopardizing the black community but it is also jeoparc', zing an elderly retirement community.
One would question with all the risks whether this project i s even necessary.
There are other more begin technologies which should be considered.
