Dear Mr. Selin:
I write to you today to express my strong orposition to the construction of a uraniurn enrichment plant by Icaisiana Energy Servi s (LES) near the comunities of Forest Grove arxi Center Springs in Louisiam. This project is pr+5 pant with gross environnental, econantic arxl social probims, is solidly op[osed Ly the Forest Grove aid Center Springs camunities (as well as a lost of other national and regional groups), arrl is totally unnecessary in light of the current worldwide glut of enriched uranitIn production wpacity.
Mr. Selin, I encourage you to look very closely at this proposal, at the envirorrental ilgact of the 4000+ tons of radioactive waste that the facility muld gernrate, at the politically destabilizing irnpact of the centrifuge technology that ITES plans to use there arx1, to look espcially hard at the issues of environnental racisa that rray have played in deciding tn locate the plant near these tw snall predminantly black comunities. In light of these points I've raised, I vigorously urge you to advise the IRC licensing board to deny Louisiana Energy Services' arplication to o>nstruct its uranium enrichrent facility in Hcraer, Iouisiana.
