62C Ivan Se11n. Chairman United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 Dear Mr. Selin.

We, the undersigned, are urging you to advise the NRC licensing board to deny LES' application to construct a uranium enrichment facility in Homer, Loulslana.

We want to remind you that the local communities of Forest Grove and Center Springs are adamantly opposed to hasing the LES plant located in their backyard.

We wish to point out some of the negative impacts that the plant will have on the area.

For example, the polluting water from the plant will be discharged into the Lake Claiborne watershed.

40 homes within 5 miles of the facility rely on wells for their drinking water.

A retirement community surrounds the shores of Lake Claiborne.

Uranium hexaflouride (UF6) mixes with the air to create toxic hycrogen fluoride.

Elderly residents living near the plant are without transportation and are concerned aoout how rapidly they can flee the area in the event of an accidental UF6 discharge.

Mr. Selin, we ask you to please take a close look at the issue of gILvironmental rac_Lsn and the role that it might have played in deciding to site the plant so near to the two smalI black communitles.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
