SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-382/93-06

This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. M. Runyan, and the inspectors

identified in the enclosed report, of this office on April 12-16, 1993. The

inspection included a review of activities authorized for your Waterford Steam

Electric Station, Unit 3, facility. . At the conclusion of the inspection, the

findings were discussed with those members of your staff identified in the

enclosed report.

This inspection examined the implementation of the program you developed to

l

meet your commitments to Generic Letter 89-10, " Safety-Related Motor-Operated

Valve Testing and Surveillance." The inspection consisted of interviews with

l

personnel and selective examination of records and procedures. We considered

the implementation of your motor-operated valve program to be generally in

accordance with your commitments to Generic Letter 89-10.

A commitment was made at the exit meeting to have your design engineering

!

group review all existing motor-operated valve data' reports for consistency

with the design basis calculations by January 1,1994. This commitment is

documented in Section 1.2 of the inspection report.
