Dear Mr. Larson:
I have been requested to respond to the letter that you sent to Chairman Selin and Commissioner Curtiss dated April 30, 1993, conveying the Forum's resolution regarding the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's recent survey of State and Compact officials for low-level radioactive waste disposal cost information.
Copies of your letter have also been provided to the other Commissioners.
We are particularly pleased to hear that extensive information on past, present, and future costs of commercial low-level waste disposal facility development is readily available from host States and Compacts, and that the Forum supports and encourages the provision of accurate, *imely, and reliable information to the NRC.
We would welcome,any information that the Forum, or individual States or Compacts, might wish to provide, in whatever format you believe appropriate.
We would be pleased to receive this information and take it into account in our review of this situation, so as to ensure that we have an accurate and comprehensive picture of the costs associated with the ongoing LLW site development activities.
If you would, please provide this information to the Office of Policy Planning.
We look forward to continuing cooperation between the NRC and the Forum members on this important subject.
