Regarding the Appointment of Mr. Brian J. Laney as Manager of Statistics and -
Measurement Control l
Dear Mr. Sherr:
I Pursuant to the requirements of General Atomics' Fundamental Nuclear Material f
Control (FNMC) Plan, General Atomics (GA) is hereby providing notification that Mr. Brian J. Laney has been assigned the duties as Manager of Statistics and Measurement Control i
(SMC). Mr. Laney assumed these duties from Mr. Bob Rucker as of December 1,1992.
While Mr. Rucker now has other responsibilities at GA, he is available to assist Mr. Laney.
should a need arise. - Messrs. Rucker and Laney worked together on SMC matters.for about six months prior to Mr. Laney assuming the position of Manager, SMC. This I
personnel change was discussed with Messrs. Thomas Pham and Chris Light of your staff during their inspection of GA's activities on December 1-4,-1992.

l Mr. Laney holds a BS Degree in Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic -
Institute, has qualified as nuc:aar power plant mechanical operator in the Navy's nuclear y
power training program, and is registered as a Professional Engineer (Quality) with the State of California Bureau of Consumer Affairs. His education and experience well exceed the minimum requirements for the position'as stated in GA's FNMC Plan.
