TRANSMITTAL 0F FINAL FEMA EXERCISE REPORT FOR THE JUNE 24, 1992, EXERCISE OF 0FFSITE RADIOLOGICAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLANS Enclosed is a letter from Joseph A. Moreland of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) dated February 19, 1993, transmitting to NRC the FEMA '
Region VI report of the June 24, 1992, emergency exercise at the Arkansas Nuclear One Generating Station. The State of Arkansas and the Counties of Pope, Logan, Johnson, and Yell fully participated in the exercise. Conway County participated as a support county.
A copy of the report will be provided by FEMA to the State of Arkansas.
There was one Deficiency identified during the June 24, 1992, exercise.
In addition, eleven Areas Requiring Corrective Action and seventeen Areas Recommended for Improvement were identified. The Deficiency was corrected during a remedial drill conducted on August 13, 1992. You are requested to followup with offsite officials on the Area Requiring Corrective Action.
Based on the results of the June 24, 1992, exercise, and the August 13, 1992, remedial drill, FEMA determined that the offsite radiological emergency response plans and preparedness for the State of Arkansas and.the affected local jurisdictions site-specific to Arkansas Nuclear One are adequate to provide reasonable assurance that appropriate measures can be taken offsite to protect the health and safety of the public in the event of a radiological emergency at the site.
No response to the NRC is required.
