RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 91-06, " RESOLUTION OF GENERIC ISSUE A-30,

' ADEQUACY OF SAFETY-RELATED DC POWER SUPPLIES,' PURSUANT TO 10 CFR 50.54f" FOR CALVERT CLIFFS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNIT N0. 1 (TAC NO. M81423) AND UNIT NO. 2 (TAC NO. M81424) i Generic Letter (GL) 91-06 was sent to all power reactor licensees. The generic letter provides the resolution for Generic Issue _ (GI) A-30,' " Adequacy of Safety-Related DC Power Supplies." This generic issue is part of GI-128,

" Electrical Power Reliability." GI-128 includes a total of three related l

issues. The two other parts, GI-48, "LCOs for Class IE Vital' Instrument Buses," and GI-49, " Interlocks and LCOs for Class IE Tie Breakers," are the-1 subject of GL 91-11.

As noted, the specific area of concern ~ of GI A-30 is the adequacy of the safety-related de power in operating nuclear power plants, particularly with regard to multiple and common cause failures.

GL 91-06 required a certified written response be provided to the questions-in Enclosure-1 of the GL to-assure that plant specific maintenance, surveillance, and monitor _ing.
