SUBJECT:
EXEMPTION TO 15-DAY WAITING PERIOD FOR ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT TO EXPORT LICENSE XSNM02530 On February 22, 1993, NRC received a letter from Siemens Power Corporation, requesting the following amendment to export license XSNM02530/07: 1) to increase the quantity of material for export from 200,000kgs U/10,000kgs U-235 to 268,600kgs U/12,750kgs U-235, and 2) to add the Swedish State Power Board as an additional ultimate consignee. The additional uranium is for two reloads each for the Swedish reactors Ringhals and Forsmark.
The applicant has requested expeditious processing of the license amendment request as the material is ready for immediate shipment and is urgently needed.
The staff has concluded that the proposed amendment meets the requirements of the Atomic Energy Act, as amended, and would not be inimical to the common defense and security of the United States.
In view of the above considerations, the staff issued the license amendment without the normal 15-day waiting period.
