Dear Mr. Austin:
In Reference (a), UNC Incorporated (UNC) provided its Certificate of Financial Assurances to NRC for the Decommissioning cost for NRC License SNM 368.
By Reference (b), NRC requested UNC modify its submission by obtaining from the Department of Energy (DOE) a statement of intent t
establishing DOE's commitment to fund the decommissioning of the licensee's facility.
By Reference (c), UNC requested the Schenectady Naval Reactors Office (SNR) provide a Statement of
. Intent or its equivalent to the NRC.
UNC's decision -in-1990 to cease all production operations at its Naval Products Division requires UNC to decommision and decontaminate its facilities at the Montville site.
Currently,

These contracts were modified on December 3, 1992, to reflect UNC's latest estimate to complete all contract work, including the decontamination / decommissioning (D&D) effort.
Increased contract billing prices have been executed and funds have been obligated.
Therefore, allowable decommissioning /
decontamination costs can be invoiced to and paid by this office within the $1.021 billion billing price of these six 9302120207 921217 PDR ADOCK 07000371 y -
