The Comittee provided coments to the NRC staff on the approach and adequacy of the subject document.

The Comittee plans to meet again with the NRC staff in several months.

Site Visits L

The Comittee deferred-its planned visit to the Center for Nuclear Waste Regulatory Analyses (CNWRA), San Antonio, Texas. The Comittee agreed to l,

a review the programs of CNWRA in the near future.

I The Comittee reconfirmed its intention to visit the West Valley Demon-stration Project in October 1989.

Future Meeting Schedules The Comittee agreed not to have a full comittee meeting on August 3-4, 1989.

Instead, a working group meeting on mixed wastes will be sched-uled.

Scoping PRA Study for the High-Level Waste Repository Dr. Moeller 'had been informed that the Office of Nuclear Regulatory i

'Research (RES) has a project underway on the development of a scoping PRA for l Yucca Mountain.

It was agreed that a representative' of Sandia National Laboratory should be invited to brief the Comittee on this subject and that Dr. Okrent would be -invited to attend (13th ACNW meeting, July 26 and 27, 1989, tentatively).

FUTURE ACTIVITIES

Presented in Appendix A is the tentative schedule of topics for discussion at' upcoming meetings of the Comittee.

The Comittee will be briefed on the status of cementitious LLW forms and will discuss with Mr. Hugh Thompson the reporting of mishaps involving LLW forms prepared.for disposal-

- (SECY-89-116).

Performance Assessment (0 pen). -- The Comittee will be briefed on the NRC approach to performance assessment for LLW disposal and the status of in-

ternal activities (NMSS/RES Memorandum of Understanding), if time permits.
