DOE invitations to the subject Roundtable on March 22,1990,in l
Washington, D.C., have been widely distributed at NRC. After considering the Roundtable's purpose and preliminary agenda, I believe our participa-

tion should be directed towards ascertaining any new developments in DOE's i
transportation arena, and monitoring deliberations on the issues identified.
I propose to lead an NRC contingent comprised of Charles MacDonald and John Cook of my staff, and Donald Hopkins of the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research to observe the various breakout groups.
I have discussed this with Hugh Thompson and he is in agreement with this approach.
I would be pleased to brief you upon our return.
