353RD ACRS MEETING FOLLOW-UP ITEMS Based on discussions regarding methods for improved implementation and follow-up of ACRS recommendations, the' Committee agreed that a summary of Actions, Agreements. Assignments, and Requests made during each full Commit-tee meeting will be sent to.your office following each meeting.
Attached per this agreement is a list of the requests made at the 353rd ACRS-Meeting, September 7-9, 1989.

Dr. Siess briefed the Comittee on the status of the Extreme External Phenomena-Subcomittee's review of. the approach.being proposed by the i
NRC staff for consideration of external events in the IPE.
The Subcom-mittee will continue its review of this matter as soon as related documents, describing-the NRC staff's approach, are made available' 'It is expected that this matter will -be brought before the ACRS full Comittee - for action by Januar 1990.

Mr. Michelson noted that the EPRI generic position on a containment vent (e.g... venting is not included) and the position taken by General Electric (e.g.=, venting is provided for the ABWR) are different.
Mr.
Michelson stated.that he would explore the basis for the differences in the Subcomittee's review of the Advanced BWR.

The Comittee agreed to review these license conversions.
The former SEP Subcomittee will be reconstituted to handle these reviews with.Dr. Siess as the Chairman.

Sequoyah Plant restart, TVA conunitted to review incident reports-of sister ~' plants. and make use of applicable operating experience. ~ Mr. Carroll noted that TVA has recently indicated that. it plans. to make use of INP0' evaluations of ' operating experience rather than doing the evaluations themselves as previously agreed upon.
The-Comittee agreed to schedule 1 discussions with the NRC staff' to discuss the staf f's basis for allowing TVA to change its comitment and to discuss what the usual industry practice:.was -in regard to using operating - experience from other plants. - Mr. Michelson called. the l
