By letter to you dated October 2,1989 Thomas Murley, Director. Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, indicated arrangements would be made for the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Comission (NRC) staff to meet with the public in Calvert County, Maryland. The purpose of the meeting is to afford an opportunity for members of the public to be informed of the status of the Calvert Cliffs facility and for the NRC to receive public comments on Baltimore Gas and ElectricCompany's(BGAE)PerformanceImprovementPlan(P!P),includingthe Implementation Program (PIP-IP), which were submitted to the NRC in April of 1989 and July 1989, respectively. Comments received during the meeting will be factored into the NRC staff's ongoing review of these documents. The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn, Route 2-4, Solomons, Maryland, on Wednesday, June 27, 1990 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The PIP provides an overview of BG&E's assessment of changes necessary to effect improved performance.
It also outlines the underlying root causes associated with the decline in performance at Calvert Cliffs and discusses the corrective actions BG&E believes are needed.
The PIP-IP contains the detailed plans for implementing the corrective actions outlined in BG&E's PIP. The PIP-IP has been revised twice since it was originally issued.
Revision 1 was issued in March 1990 and Revision 2 was issued in April 1990.
Members of the public will be informed of the meeting through advertisements in area newspapers. Copies of the PIP and PIP-IP are available for public review at the following libraries: St. Mary's County Memorial Library, Leonardtown, Maryland; St. Mary's College of Maryland Library, St. Mary's City, Maryland; Charles County Public Library, LaPlatt bryland; Calvert County Public Library, Prince Frederick, Maryland; and Dorchester County Public Library, Cambridge, Mar,fie d.
