Please find enclosed six copies of the
- Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station Security Plan *, and a description of changes.
These changes are being made to correct inconsistencies identified in Revision 1 to the Plan, and to address NRC comments. We have had several discussions with the staff regarding Maine Yankee's definition of Access Controlled Area. The staff is concerned that this definition is not consistent with their guidance.
We have considered the alternatives, and although we recognize that the staff may not be accustomed to our definition, it has been used in the Maine Yankee Security Plan for over ten years. We do not believe a change is necessary.
Based on an overall evaluation of the changes made to the MYAPS Security Plan, it has been determined that the effectiveness of the Security Plan has not be decreased, therefore, the changes are being submitted under the provisions of 10 CFR 50.54(p).
An evaluation of specific changes consistent with this conclusion is presented in the " Description of Changes."
The enclosures to this letter contain safeguards information of a type specified in 10 CFR 73.21 and shall be protected against unauthorized disclosure.
When separated from the enclosures, this letter may be decontrolled.
