reporting significant changes in the UPTR facility organization involving Level l 1, 2, or 3 personnel responsible for the management and operation of the reactor facility. Though not directly part of the UFTR facility organization, we are making this report of a significant change in the campus radiation control function that interacts with Level 1 to f acilitate communications with the Commission.

Effective April 12, 1990, Dr. Phil Achey has been appointed to replace Dr.

Charles Roessler as the new Chairman of the University Radiation Control Committee (URCC) for the University of Florida. Though not considered to be required to be reported within 30 days as for significant UFTR organization changes per Tech Spec 6.3.3, Paragraph (1), nevertheless this change is reported for information purposes per a recommendation f rom Inspector Craig Bassett in NRC 11.

Although the URCC Chairman is not directly part of the organization responsible for the management and operation of the UFTR, the UFTR Organization Chart (Figure 6.1 in Tech Specs) shows. the URCC Chairman at a level interacting with l

'g Level 1, receiving input from Level 2 (Reactor Safety Review Subcommittee of the

- URCC) as well as giving input to RSRS and to the Radiation Control Officer who e _is at Level 3 in the area of Radiation Control and Protection on the University )'

.g campus. The Chairman of the URCC is now a rotating position with a 2 year J o o o. length of appointmentfor Dr. Achey.
