What is the estimated cost of this computerized Licensing Support System (LSS) and why should it not be delayed until i

CHAIRMAN CARR:
The original Department of Energy cost estimates for the hardware, software, and labor associated with the design, develo gent, and operation of the LSS from 1988-1998 was approximately $200 millich.
Given the revised repository schedule, this cost estimate will need to be redone.
As mentioned earlier, the new LSS development schedule has substantially delayed the implementation and loading of the LSS consistent with its need for pre-license application technical review and the need to process about 20 million pages of documentary material by 2001.
