4 MR. BEVILLi Please describe the. Licensing Support System (LSS) being-established in support of the waste repository.
CHAIRMAN CARR:
The LS$ is an electronic information management system which will contain the
. relevant licensing documents of the Department of Energy, the Nuclear Regula-tory Commission, and other parties to the Commission's high-level viaste reposi-tory licensing proceeding. The objective of the LSS is to facilitt.te the thorough and efficient review of the DOE license application.
It will provide the capability to conduct an electronic full teyt search of a comprehensive and common pool of relevant licensing informotion. This will assist in the review of this technical-information and in the preparation of regulatory products such as rulemakings and technical positions, it will also eliminhte the time-consuming physical identification and distribution of documents during discovery which normally occurs after the license application is submitted.
Finally, the LSS will be used during the evidentiary hearing on the license application, both for document review and for the electronic transmission of all filings and issuances during the hearing.
