NRC Security Inspection 89-20

Dear Mr. Martin:

As committed in the exit meeting for NRC Inspection 89-20, the District has reviewed site lighting conditions, the site lighting system and the security computer system.

The following actions have been taken as a result of these reviews:

Trees and shrubs have been extensively pruned to enhance illumination of the grounds.

Selected structures such as idle trailers have been removed from the site.

This activity is ongoing.

The need to physically modify the plant lighting system is being evaluated consistent with illumination inspections made pursuant to completion of the preceding activities as well as consideration of contemplated NRC approval of the Long Term Defueled Condition Security Plan.

If the evaluation requires modifications, the District will schedule their implementation prior to the end of 1990.

Upgrades to both security computer system hardware and software have been authorized. However, as stated in the previous action, depending on NRC approval of the LTDC Security Plan, the District will schedule any upgrades (if required) by the end of 1990.

So Hembers of your staff with questions requiring additional information or

@f, clarification may contact Robert Downey at (209) 333-2935, extension 4261.
