What is the status of your reviews of the Advanced Liquid MetalReactor(ALMR) designs?
CHAIRMAN CARR:
A draft Preapplic6 tion Safety Evaluation Report, for the Power Reactor Inherently Safe Module, PRISM, ALMR design was issued in September 1989, NUREG-1368.
This report is being reviseo to address key licensing issues, such as containment requirements and emergency planning requirements. The SER will be presented to the Commission for review and approval by November,1990.
DOE and its contractor will respond to the safety issues identified in the SER

in two. forthcoming amendments to their Preliminary Safety Analysis Report.- A SER on the Safe Advanced Fast Reactor, SAFR, design, to document the review performed to date, will be pursued as a low priority activity now that further work on the SAFR design has been terminated 5y D0E.
The NRC staff plans to review and evaluate the licensing aspects of DOE's Integral Fast Reactor metal' fuel program in FY-1991.
Evaluations are expected
=to include, but not be limited to, chemical reprocessing, on-site versus off-site reprocessing, the potentihl for inadvertent recriticality, and radioactive source term considerations.
