$0 MR. BEVILL:
Please advise the amount of resources that are required for these reviews and what priority is used for the reviews.
CHAIRMAN CARR:
In fiscal year 1991 for the evolutionary and advanced reactor. reviews, we currently have budgeted 35 direct FTE and about $3 million.
In fiscal year 1990 we have been at 24 direct FTEs ana $1.6 millien. We are proposing an increase in this next budget to dedicate additional staff and contractor support for the certification.
The-Commission is currently re-evaluating the current schedules for design certification reviews.
Budgeted resources for these reviews will be considered in this re-evaluation.
The current Commission schedule gives equal priority to the review of (ieneral Electric and Combustion Engineering evolutionary light water reactors and the Electric Power Research Institute Requirements Document for evolutionary LWRs until there is a domestic interest in a specific standard design. Also, the Comission plans to give higher priority to the review of EPRI Requirements Document f or advanced passive LWRs compared to the review of specific passive plant designs.
It is too early to establish review priorities for advanced non-LWR designs.
