Comments on Combined Thermal Hydraulic / Core Performance Subcommittee Meeting. April 27, 1990 j
Dr. Catton requested some comments from the consultants who attended i
this meeting and I am complying with his request.
The first half of our meeting was very encouraging and even uplifting.
Apperently RES is taking this problem seriously and the computer work is going ahead well enough.
From this point on the meeting was.very depressing.
The low point for me was the presentation from the BWR Owners Group.
In this presentation the representative of the 00 made the t
admission that he knew nothing about PRA with the unspoken claim that such knowledge was not very useful.
Further in the, presentation it seems to me that the Owners Group felt that the problem is well in hand and no great effort need be made.
I feel that it is most unfortunate that the Owners Group is unaware of the serious nature of the problem, it seems to

me that we are skirting on the edge of a serious incident.
I hope that NRR really appreciates this. As if to underline this conclusion at the end of the meeting we heard of a serious event in another foreign BWR.
