Dear Sirs:

Regulatory, Guide 1.97 Revised Comitment Implementation The intent. of this. letter.is to inform the Nuclear Regulatory Comission (NRC) of the need to revise a Regulatory Guide 1.97 comitment concerning installation of post-accident neutron flux recording devices, provide a' brief explanation for the revised commitment, provide the current status-of the comitment, and: identify when the comitment will. be ' completed.

In a letter to the NRC dated January 26, 1987, Portt....I General Electric e

Company (PCE) comitted to complete the following three items by the end of s

l-the 1990 refueling outage:

(1) install a redundant post-acciisnt neutron l-flux instrumentation channel, (2) make all connect:.ons to the Technical Support Center computer and Emergency Operations. Facility regarding l

post-accident neutron flux, and (3) provide recording of both channels of post-accident neutron flux indication.

During the 1990 refueling outage, Items 1 and 2 above have been completed.

Item 3 (installation of redundant post-accident neutron flux channel recorders) has not been completed.
