Dear Mr. Chairman:
Public Law 97-415, enacted on January 4, 1983, amended Section 189 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 to authorize the Nuclear Regulatory Connission to issue and make immediately effective any amendment to an operating license upon a determination by the Connission that such amendment involves no significant hazards consideration, notwithstanding the pendency before the Cornission of a request for a hearing.
In addition, the legislation requires the Commission to periodically (but not less frequently than once every 30 days) publish notice of any amendments issued, or proposed to be issued, under the new authority above.
Enclosed for your information is a copy of the Connission's Biweekly Notice of Applications and Amendments to Operating Licenses involving no significant ht,zards considerations, which was published in the Federal Register on May 2, 1990 (55 FR 18405).
