Certificate of Compliance No. UJA/9191/AF Gentlemen:
By application dated March 28, 1989, the Babcock & Wilcox Company, Naval Nuclear Fuel Division (NNFD) requested renewal of Certificate of Compliance No. 9191.
-In response to that request, the NRC renewed the certificate for one year to permit time for NNFD to develop a consolidated application.
Since that time, NNFD has not utilized the 9191 container but has been evaluating a possible alternative container to replace it.
The evaluations are continuing but will not be complete by the time that the certificate of compliance will expire on June 30, 1990.
We, therefore, request that the expiration date of Certificate of Compliance No. 9191 be extended until September 30, 1990.
This will provide sufficient time for the completion of the evaluation.-
