Introduction.
A: meeting was held at the request of Northern States Power Company (NSP) at
- Rockville, Maryland,'on May 10, 1990, concerning the transport of the.
The Pathfinder reactor vessel. The Pathfinder plant is.being decommissioned.
j reactor. vessel will be transported--intact. from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to y
' Richland,- Washington. 'The fuel has been removed from the reactor vessel, but
' the. reactor' internals will remain in place. An application for certification of the reactor vessel as.a radioactive materials transport -package has been 4
received by the-NRC. The meeting was held to discuss NSP proposed responses
.to 'an 'NRC request for additional information, dated March 14,.1990. The meeting agenda' followed the items in the request for additional information.

~ Stfuctural. Fabrication and Drawinos NSP agreed to develop more detailed drawings of the package.
NSP agreed that-welding of the nozzle plates would be performed as recommendad in NUREG/CR-3019, with several ' exceptions.- All exceptions would be explicitly identified

- and justified. The code standards used for welding will be noted on the
' drawings. NSP agreed to provide additional information regarding package center of gravity calculations, and regarding lifting and tiedown of the package. NSP~ agreed to provide a summary sketch and table of maximum stresses.
