Millstone Nuclear Power Station Oil Spill Report Northeast Utilities Service. Company (NUSCO), on behalf -of Northeast: Nuclear Energy Company (NNECO), submits a Hazardous Substance Spill Report for NNEC0's -

-office on April 28, 1990.-

. This spill was. verbally reported -to your Millstone' Nuclear Power Station.

t A drain valve on an oil gear box reservoir broke when it was hit by-a crane hook.- ' As a result, the drain valve was plugged and repaired..

The gear box is located in the Unit 3. intake water building..The oil, approx-imately-2 gallons of;cil, was. released onto the floor-and into a drain; This

drain discharges to the intake water.

Because ~ the - discharge. point.of' the-floor drai41.is near the suction of a 1arge.-(150,000 gpm) cooling water pump and is also-blocked-from view, no sheen-was; apparent and no spill. containment was performed.
