Certificate of Compliance No. 9022 was revised on April 25, 1990, to authorize
- changes in packaging design and to reduce. authorized contents.
The changes.in a
packaging design were to prevent the possible loss of vermiculite during.
hypothetical. accident conditions. The authorized contents were changed to assure criticality safety of the package, even if water leaked:into the inner i
vessel during hypothetical accident conditions.
The information contained in-the applicant's submittals demonstrated that th'e package, with the reduced
[
contents, would meet the requirements of 10 CFR Part 71 even.if some.
l vermiculite was lost. The Certificate of Compliance is therefore being amen'ded to authorize shipment of the reduced contents in packagings which do not' incorporate the design changes authorized in the April 25, 1990, amendment.
