This is.in regard to your request for approval of a route to be used for trans-port of spent reactor fuel as contained in your letter of March 1,1990.

.~The route from Portsmouth Marine Terminal, Portsmouth, Virginia to the Department of Energy Idaho National Engineering Laboratory, Idaho Falls, Idaho, as requested in your letter, is judged to meet the regulatory requirements in accordance with 10 CFR 73.37 for shipment of spent fuel under import license
'ISNM-1699 and is approved through December-. 31, 1990. Also the ports of Port Elizabeth, New Jersey; Baltimore, Maryland; Norfolk, Virginia and Newport News, Virginia, through which the shipment may transit, are judged to meet the requirements of 10 CFR 73.37 and are approved.. In the event your carrier is required to deviate from the approved route, please call the contact listed on r-l page two of this letter as soon as possible providing the details.

10 CFR 73.37(a)(2) have been completed by the NRC staff. Data relating to I
these arrangements and a copy of the approved route are enclosed. This information is-to be incorporated into your shipment plans and provided to your carrier along with instructions regarding its use.
