URFO:GRK Docket No. WM-48 MEMORANDUM FOR:

Docket File No. WM-48 FROM:

Gary R. Konwinski Project Manager

SUBJECT:

MEETING MINUTES:

GROUND-WATER COMPLIANCE AT THE BODO CANYON DISPOSAL CELL i-I i

Participants:

Russ Edge-Steve Hamp Elizabeth Damler Gary Konwinski A meeting was held on April 10, 1990, to discuss ground-water topics associated with the Bodo Canyon disposal cell.

This is the fourth in a series of meetings -

that have been aimed at coordinating technical specialists, project managers,

{

and DOE's consultants.

Major topics of discussion centered on the disposal cell covering the recharge area for the alluvial aquifer and the point of compliance wells.

Some of the wello that monitor the alluvial aquifer adjacent to the disposal cell have shown declining water levels.

The water level data appears to support the conclusion that the construction of the disposal cell has eliminated or greatly reduced the recharge to the alluvial materials.

DOE and their contractors will discuss'this issue in their remedial action plan.

The point of compliance wells were discussed, specifically those wells that are completed in the alluvium.

It was determined that a sufficient number of hazardous constituents had been monitored in the point of compliance wells,-

background wells, and other monitor wells.

It was stressed that collecting

. water quality and water level data prior to, during, and after construction will be important in determining compliance.

The next scheduled meeting on ground-water issues has been established for mid-to late-May. At this time, the modeling data will be further developed and 9005090206 900420
