- THIRD REPORT OF THE NUCLEAR SAFETY RESEARCH REVIEW CONNITTEE (NSRRC)
The third report of the Nuclear Safety Research Review Committee (NSRRC) has-been received.
The report forwards the Committee's views derived from its Full Committee meeting held May 23 and 24, 1989 in Bethesda, Maryland.
The report specifically addressed:
(1) USNRC and RES complete response to the recommendations of the National Research Council's Report, " Revitalizing Nuclear Safety Research," issued in December 1986.
(2) Amplification of the reviews of specific technical programs that were undertaken during the fall of 1988 by the NSRRC Subcommittees on Severe Accident / Accident Management, Aging and Reactor Pressure Vessels, Human Factors, and Waste Disposal.
(3) Committee review of the full scope of RES activities.
Addition 311y, the report presents the Committee's views on the general topics of interaction of RES and NRR, maintaining staff and contractor expertise through research and introduction of advanced technology into U.S. plants.
I am asking each Division Director to prepare a draft reply lfor their respective areas of responsibilities for my use in preparing the Office's reply to the NSRRC by mid-September.
