Dear Administrative Judges:
Recently Commonwealth Edison Company (" Commonwealth Edison") decided to defer the refueling outage for Quad Cities Nuclear Station Unit 2, previously scheduled for early 1983, until September 1983. In our November 16, 1981 letter to the Licensing Board, we reported that, due to the short duration between the refueling outage scheduled for Unit 1 in September 1982 and the refueling outage scheduled for Unit 2 in early 1983, no storage racks beyond those installed this summer could be installed until after comple-tion of the 1983 Unit 2 refueling outage.
This statement is no longer accurate in light of Commonwealth Edison's decision to defer the Unit 2 refueling outage until September 1983. Deferral of Unit 2's refueling outage until September 1983 will provide approximately nine months between the refueling outages. This amount of time will enable Commonwealth Edison to continue the reracking operation between the Unit 1 and Unit 2 refueling outages.
In all other respects, the November 16, 1981 letter remains Correct.
