FACILITY:
Wolf Creek Generating Station, Unit 1
SUBJECT:
SUH1ARY OF !!EETIhG HELD ON tlARCH 3,1982, WITH WOLF CREEK APPLICANT A meeting was held on March 3, 1982, at the Air Rights Building in Bethesda, Maryland, with representatives of the Kansas Gas and Electric Company. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss matters related to the Seismic Site-Specific Spectra applicable to Wolf Creek. The list of attendees is attached as Enclosure 1.
The significant points discussed are sumarized as follows:
1.
D. Bernreuter of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) presented a sunnary of his report on Wolf Creek. His work involved 2 main areas, (1) a Seismic Hazard Analysis, and (2) the development of Seismic Site-Specific Spectra using real records.
2.
The LLhl site-specific spectra that was developed from real records showed some exceedance of the applicant's spectra developed from Regulatory Guide 1.60 based on 0.129. NRC stateo that this exceedance is typical of other plants and not considered large.
3.
The NRC has not accepted (or rejected) the LLNL report and its findings at this time.
4.
Regardless of whether the NRC accepts or rejects the report, the LLNL findings did not exceed the 0.29 design of the SNUPPS portion of Wolf Creek, and therefore, the accepted SNUPPS seisaic design and analysis is not affected.
5.
The NRC staff indicated that its review of the report would be complete the week of tiarch 8 to determine if further Wolf Creek site-specific analysis is necessary.
