In response to the conclusions of the meeting of March 16, 1982, the Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Unit will shut down and inspect the four high-pressure injection nozzles.

This inspection will include both radiographic and ultrasonic examinations.

At the March 16, 1980 meeting, you had discussed a shutdown date of April 6, 1982.

I am requesting that the shutdown be no later than April 9, 1982.

I feel the few extra days will allow us to properly prepare for the inspection and repairs if required.

We are now preparing for the shutdown with activities such as procedures, welder qualification, material procurement, including regular reviews and approvals. We will shut down for our inspection as soon as we are ready, but in no event later than April 9,1982.
