l Commission Washington, D.

Dear Mr. Chairman:
l l
During the~next few. years, as nuclear power plants now under construction are completed, nuclear power will supply an increasingly significant part of the energy needs of the people of Texas.
Accordingly, I have followed the recent developments relating to the construction of the South Texas Nuclear Project with great interest.
As you are' aware, the South Texas Project is a joint effort of the' City of Lustin, the City of San Antonio, Central Power and Light' Company, and Houston Lighting and Power Company.
Whi'le the Project has not been without its problems, ~many of which are shared with the rest of the industry, I am confident that these problems can be resolved and that the Project will be successfully completed.
In addition, I firmly believe that the Project Manager, Houston Lighting and' Power' Company, has been and will continue to be dedicated to the construction of a safe and' reliable nuclear power plant, an essential element in the continued growth and economic health of our region.
I appreciate the'-opportunity to share my views with you r'egardi~ng thi~s most.important issue.
With best regards.
Cordially,'
