Area Inspected:
Routine, announced inspection by a regional based inspector of safeguards including:
sampling raw fission waste for analyses of transuranic i
elements.
The inspection involved 8 inspector-hours onsite by one NRC regional based inspector.
Results: The' licensee was found to be in compliance with NRC requirements in the area examined during the inspection.

the Oak Ridge National. Laboratory and the Exxon Nuclear Idaho Company, Jnc.
Each laboratory will receive duplicate samples of raw fission waste and duplicate samples of filtrate for analyses of transuranic elements.

6 Two-10cc samples were taken from the 3 liter solution and mixed in a bottle.
Two-duplicate (4) 3cc samples were aliquoted with a' calibrated pipet and put in calibrated viels equipped with screw-cap covers lined with rubber g
and teflon.
The samples were labeled #1 and #2 Raw Fission Waste.

From this solution, two-10cc samples were taken and mixed in a bottle.. Two duplicate (4) 3cc samples were aliquoted with a calibrated pipet and put in calibrated vials, also equipped with screw-cap covers lined with cubut and teflon.

This refers to the routine safeguards inspection conducted by Mr. G. C. Smith of this office on March 30-31, 1982 of activities authorized by NRC License No,s R-81 and SNM-639 and to the discussions of our findings held by Mr. Smith with you at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the.NRC Region I Inspec-tion Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the l
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector..
Our inspector also verified the steps you have taken to correct the violation brought to your attention in the enclosure to our letter dated November 2, 1979. We have no further questions regarding your action at this time.
Within the scope of thi.s inspection, no violations were observed.
In accordance with 10 CFR 73.21 of the NRC's regulations, documentation of security measures for the physical protection of. special nuclear aterials and certain plant equipment vital to the safety of production or utilization L
facilities is deemed to be Safeguards Information.
Each person who produces, receives or acquires Safeguards Information is required to enst.re that it is protected against unauthorized disclosure.
Therefore, except for the report cover sheet, the enclosed inspection report will. ny be placed in the Public Document Room and will receive limit?4 distribution pursuant to 10 CFR 73.21(c).
