Chairman DCPRO g uTU fA0*****4 D Nuclear Regulatory Commission SD 1717 H Street, N.W.
Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. Chairman:
Under California's reapportionment of Congressional Dis-tricts, I will represent the area that includes Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant.
As this plant could contribute to an improved power supply in California, I hope that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will proceed as soon as possible to a decision on Diablo Canyon's acceptability as a facility.
I am well aware of the controversy surrounding Diablo Canyon's const uction and the overall safety of this plant.
Certainly I do not wish to impose unsafe power generation on the people of California.
I am also aware of the need to improve California's access to electrical power.
If the Commission can discern ways in which to bring the plant on line without creating unsafe conditions, I ask that progress toward allowing Diablo Canyon's operation be made.
