This refers to your January 26, 1982 application, submitted on behalf of General Public Utilities, for review and approval of the GPU 80 shipping cask.
A. check for $1,000 accompanied your request.
Your application, however, is subject to an application fee of $7,000 as specified in fee Category llB of Section 170.31 of the enclosed Part 170.
Fee Category llB ' Applies to evaluation of packages containing radioactive material greater than 2,000 times the Type A quantity.
Since your request for 5,000 curies of mixed fission products is greater than 2,000 times the Type A quantity, fee Category 118 applies to yoer application.
Payment of the additional $6,000 1
should be made to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and mailed to my attention.
Prior to issuance of the certificate, an approval fee of $62,200 will be required in accordance with fee Category 118.
Please note Footnote 4 of Section 170.31, which states in part that, "when the review of an application is complete, the expenditures for professional manpower and appropriate support services will be determined and the resultant fee assessed...."
If it is determined that the expenditures incurred are less than the approval fee, a refund of any overpayment will be made.
Your application will be forwarded to the Licensing staff for pro-i cessing upon receipt of the additional $6,000 fee.
