On February 5, 1982, Detroit Edison's Mr. H. A. Walker, Supervisor-Construction Quality Assurance, telephoned Mr. J. Neisler of NRC-Region 111, to report on a problem with defective Agastat Relays.
Detroit Edison had received notification from Control Products Division of Amerace Corporation that Agastat E7000 Series timing relays supplied to the Fermi 2 Site were defective. This problem had been reported by Amerace Corporation to the NRC per 10CFR21 requirements.

Relays containing these diaphragms were about 20% of the production between the 24th week of 1981 and the 3rd week of 1982.
Detroit Edison is presently determining the location of these relays, and will return them to Control Products Division as requested.
Another report on this item, either interim or final, is scheduled to be sent to you on or before July 2, 1982.
If you have questions con-cerning this matter, please contact Mr. H. A. Walker, Supervisor-Construction Quality Assurance.
Very truly yours, i
