, PALISADES PLANT 1081 Afi!RfAL OPERATINF, REPORT:

OCCtJPATIONAL EXPOSURE A detailed summary of annual occupational exposure as required by Section 6.9.1.b of the Technical Specifications for the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant is attached in Regulatory Guide 1.16 format. Radiation exposures were identified by using the results of daily pocket dosimeter readings at the access control point for each individual entry during the calendar year 1981.

The exposures have been normalized to agree with legal doses, determined with corporate thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs).

The normalization was made by multiplying the pocket dosimeter values by the ratio of the total TLD dose (767 person-rem) to the total pocket dosimeter dose (1073 person-rem).

The correction factor used was therefore 767/1073 = 0.715 As has been the case in recent years, the majority of exposures were received by maintenance personnel.

In 1981 about 55% of the total plant exposure expenditure resulted from special maintenance such as primary coolant pump seal replacements, control rod drive seals, and installation of steam generator sparger ring for auxiliary feed water flow.
