Minimum Separation Requirements for Certain Components of the 4160V Switchgear On October 2, 1981, Illinois Power verbally notified Mr.

H.

M.

Wescott, NRC Region III, of a potential reportable deficiency per 10 CFR 10. 55 (c) concerning minimum separation requirements for cortain components of the 4160V switchgear.

This initial notifi-cation was followed by an interim report per 10 CPR 50.55(e) (3)

(Ref. U-0326, dtd. 11/6/81).

Our investigation of this matter has not been. completed, and this letter is an additional report to provide an update on our investigation.

A detailed analysis of the significance of the deficiency and the number of areas involved is presently ongoing.

The A/E and contractor are evaluating the program covering this potential deficiency and will be providing Illinois Power with additional information on this matter.

We anticipate that we will need an extension of approxi-mately 90 days to complete our investigation of this potential deficiency, the determination of reportability, and the filing of the final report.
