Unless noted otherwise, the information below was stated by industry representatives.

During the November 14, 2019, SGTF meeting (ADAMS Accession No. ML19344A876),

members of industry and NRC staff discussed a potential approach to modify the steam generator (SG) technical specifications (TSs) within the framework of the existing performance-based TSs. Members of industry are proposing to use this approach to submit a Technical Specification Task Force (TSTF) Traveler for NRC staff review.

The industrys proposal would increase the maximum interval between inspections to 72 and 96 effective full power months for SGs with thermally-treated Alloy 600 and thermally-treated Alloy 690 tubing, respectively. The proposal would also retain a requirement for SG tube inspections following an inspection in which crack indications are identified.

The NRC staff and industry will meet again on February 24, 2020, to discuss the technical aspects of the proposal. The industry will compile and present data to support an increased operating interval between SG tube inspections.
