MEMORANDUM.FOR: The Files FROM:
Marvin R. Peterson, Acting Assistant Director Export / Import and International Safeguards Office of International Programs
SUBJECT:
PROPOSED LICENSE TO EXPORT NUCLEAR COMPONENTS TO THE UNITED KINGDOM (XCOM0609)
On February 22, 1982, Westinghouse Electric Corporation filed an application.
to export 10 proportional counters to the United Kingdom for installation in the Heysham and Hartlepool nuclear reactors. Westinghouse has requested expeditious processing of this license application as the equipment is ready for immediate shipment and is urgently required by the customer.
The staff has concluded that the proposed export meets the requirements of the Atomic Energy Act, as amended, and would not be inimical to the common defense and security of the United States.
In view of the above considerations, the staff issued the license without the normal 15-day waiting period.
