SU'ItARY OF MEETING HELD ON FEBRUARY 9, 1982 UITH Tile CALLAWAY AND WOLF CREEK APPLICANTS CONCERNING CONTROL R00*i DESIGN A neeting was held on February 9,1932 at the Offices of Nuclear Projects, Inc.

in Rockville, Maryland with reoresentatives of the Union Electric Cripany, Kansas Gas and Electric Conaany, SNUPPS Organization, Westinghouse, and Bechtel Power Corporation. The purpose of the neetinq was to discuss natters related to the control room design of the Callaway and Wolf Creek plants.

The agenda for the neeting is attached as Enclosure 1.

The neeting discussion focused on (a) the applicants' proposed responses to NRC findings as documented in applicant letter SLNRC 82-04, dated 1/19/82, and (b) reconnendations made by a consultant to the Wolf Creek applicant as docu9ented in K 1L'IRC 82-153, dated 1/15/82. The list of attendees at the neeting is attached as Enclosure 2.

Most of the meeting was concerned with the SNUPPS findings and the Callaway site-specific findings and these itels are addressed under part A below. Long-tern itens (called category 3) were not addressed during the neeting because they are of lower priority and because of time linitations; they will be addressed as required at a later time. Discussion of the Wolf Creek site-specific reco nenda-tions is sumarized under oart B below.

Discussion of Wolf Creek Site Specific Panels The staff briefly discussed with the applicant (Kansas Gas & Electric Comnany),

the preliminary assessment of the Wolf Creek site-specific control room panels, RL013 and RLO14, perfomed by the Essex Corporation. The staff inforned the applicant that at this time only an initial review of the assessment has been performed. Froa this, it ins deternined that the staff priority rating systea differs from that of Essex Corp. The staff will perform a complete review af ter receipt of the applicant's submittal of their response to the assessment.

The applicant stated that their response to this assessment is being fornulated and likely would be provided to the staff within 30 days.

The applicants indicated they expect to submit responses to remaining itens in 2 to 3 nonths.

In addition, to facilitate the Wolf Creek SER oreparation, they will provide a written commitment to the changes described in this neeting sumsry by about February 25, 1982.
