Dear Mr. Sheckells:
I am pleased to provide the Environnental Protection Agency with copies of the Oraft Environmental Statecent prepared by the Connission's Office of Muclear Reactor Reculation on environmental considerations under the National Environ-rental Policy Act of 1969, relatino to the Midland Plant, Units 1 and 7.
This Draft Envirorontal Statenent was prepared in accordance with the statecent of general policy and procedure on implenentation of the National Environnental Policy Act of 1969, as set forth in the Commission's regulations,10 CFR Part bl.
A notice of the availability of the Graft Environmental Statement and request for comments fron interested persons is beinq sent to the Office of the Federal Register for filing and publication (copies enclosed). A request for connents also is being sent to appropriate Federal, State and local agencies.
After receipt of the connents from Federal, State and local agencies, we shall prepare a final environmental statement including, where appropriate, a discus-sion of any problems or objections raised and the disposition thereof, and for-ward copies of the statenent to tha Enviromental Protection Agency.
