The Camission was briefei by the. staff on the status of various approaches l
to strengthening quality assurance in nuclear power plants. The staff cuphasized that these were proposals and that they would be prepared to present a nore detailed plan after the Omnission's meeting with industry representatives on February 4.

the staff examine the quality control program usal by FAA; i

staff ascertain and implenent cpeedy procedures for reinstatenent j
of QA/QC employees who are fired for reporting deficiencies; i

(SECY Suspense: 3/31/82) i The Chai.tman suggested that the Camissioners provide their ccmnents to staff on the itens discussed. The staff indicated it was studying.the consolidation of QA/QC staff resources and muld report to the Ccmnission by mid-February.
