HRC ACCEPTANCE OF REV.10F AISC TOPICAL REPORT (FCTPN-78)
In your letter dated December 18, 1981, you submitted a proposed revision to the AISC topical report, " Quality Assurance for AISC Nuclear Quality Certifica-tion Program."
The principal purpose of the revision is to clarify the design responsibilities of the owner (or his engineer) and of tb fabricator. This was done by ntvising the introduction and adding requirements under Item No.
3.0, " Design," to the Nuclear Certification Program Evaluation / Audit Checklist.
Other changes address the delegation of your authority, correction of a print-ing error, and clarification that your operation is audited by two members of the AISC Task Connittee on Quality Certification and not by the AISC Board Conni ttee.
Based on our evaluation of the changes proposed in your December 18,1981, let-ter, we find that the proposed revision is acceptable with the following condi-tions which we discussed during previous telephone conversations.
1.
Add the following sentence at the end of the revised last paragraph of Section I: "This approval also indicates completion of an independent verification of the adequacy of the shop detail drawings in accordance with Criterion III of Appendix B to 10 CFR Part 50."
2.
Add the following words to the last sentence of Section III.D.1:
, and the nuclear quality assurance program requirements supplement (i.e., do not replace) the Category I or Category II quality assurance program requirements."
3.
Add "Section X, Reference" to the topical report and include therein the AISC Code of Standard Practice for Steel Buildings and Bridges.
Please incorporate the revision, the reference, and this letter into the topical report and fomard 20 copies to the NRC.
