Dear Mr. Keppler:
The purpose of this letter is to provide the status of the Crosby SRV Solenoid Valve 10 CFR 50.55(e) report as committed to in Re ference (a).
As described in Reference (b), the final resolution to the Crosby Solenoid Valve qualification problem was pursued in parallel paths; one included replacement o f the collet / yoke assembly and the other was to provide a qualified Crosby Solenoid.
The qualification of the Crosby Solenoid has been completed and since this is considered to be the long term solution, the following installation schedule has been established:
Unit 1 - ADS-SRV's - prior to fuel load Unit 1 - Remaining SRV's - prior to Unit startup Unit 2 - All SRV's - prior to fuel load All SRV Solenoids have had the qualified collet / yoke assem-bly installed in them.
This modification and the manufacturer's testing to IEE 323 (1971) standards qualifies these valves for plant operation until further testing to NUREG 0588 requirements is com-pleted under Commonwealth Edison Company's Equipment Qualification program.
